Fort Worth, TX (June 7, 2017) – Currently, United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) is experiencing a shortfall of more than $2 million in annual fundraising; the latest in a multi-year decline brought on by changes in the economy and within various industries.
As a result, UWTC is restructuring its organization to meet the challenges of current philanthropy trends, while maintaining capacity to serve the community. Today, Wednesday, June 7th, a number of organizational changes will be announced. These changes include cost savings to the upcoming 2017-2018 fiscal year budget, reducing and/or consolidating departmental functions and staff reductions that affect multiple departments. About one-third of staff positions will be eliminated or consolidated. Many of these changes will take effect immediately while others may begin in July.
In April, we committed to maintaining funding levels for high performing programs, keeping funding to community partners whole. We are standing by this commitment. United Way is dedicated to providing leadership and funds to address the challenging social issues in Tarrant County. These changes will be necessary to continue our important mission and to face future endeavors as a leaner, more agile organization.
United Way and its partners deliver critical programs and services to those in need. We are fighting to advance the education, financial stability and health of every person, in every community throughout Tarrant County.
