OUR INITIATIVES
Community Response
United Way of Tarrant County is there to help when disaster strikes or individuals need assistance with their daily challenges. Because of our work monitoring the needs of the community, we are set up to respond quickly and directly. Through programs like Mission United, we serve veterans, active duty military members and their families with vital resources and support. With a focus on our community’s most critical issues, we’re tacking youth gun violence with the One Second Collaborative, empowering youth and providing them with the support they need to overcome challenges and thrive.
Community Health
Everyone in our community deserves to lead a safe and healthy life. From supporting older adults, individuals with disabilities and caregivers through our Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County to implementing health initiatives focused on improving maternal and infant mortality rates, we strive to improve outcomes and promote well-being, particularly in underserved neighborhoods and among vulnerable populations.
Financial Empowerment
We provide individuals and families with the tools they need to improve their economic well-being. Our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation services, enabling low-income households to maximize returns and gain a better understanding of their finances. By replenishing our neighbors' pockets, we bolster both individual financial stability and the local economy.
Education and Learning
Education is key to unlocking opportunities and building a brighter future. We’re improving literacy rates through our partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, supporting children's development. Our partnership with Learning Heroes to bring Go Beyond Grades to Tarrant County enables parents with tools to gain better insight into their children’s learning progress. By nurturing the skills and potential of individuals across Tarrant County, we are investing in a stronger, more prosperous community for generations to come.

UWTC Announces New Director of Donor Relations
UWTC announced today the hiring of Eboney McCain, Esq., as the director of donor relations within the Community Investment-Development organization. In this position, McCain will build and manage relationships within a portfolio of individual major donors to support UWTC programs.
OSC Now Accepting Nominations for Youth Steering Committee
The One Second Collaborative announces the opening of nominations for its Youth Steering Committee (YSC), an advisory group of 15 young leaders from across Tarrant County that will provide guidance, recommendations and leadership to the OSC.
United Way of Tarrant County, JPS, THR, BSW Announce Launch of First-in-Texas Maternal Health Initiative
UWTC announced today a groundbreaking maternal health initiative, TeamBirth, to ensure every person giving birth in Tarrant County has a voice in their care.
To an audience of more than 400 in attendance at the annual Women United Investing in Impact Luncheon, UWTC President and CEO, Leah M. King announced that seven hospitals within the JPS Hospital Network, Texas Health Resources and Baylor Scott & White will be among the first TeamBirth cohort in the state of Texas.
