UWTC Beat the Heat Program Paused for Summer 2025

United Way of Tarrant County is not offering its Beat the Heat program this summer. Please refer to the following list of local organizations providing heat relief and utility assistance to help residents during the hot months:

  • 211: The 211 Texas helpline is a free, confidential service that connects people across the state with essential resources, including cooling centers and utility assistance. Call 211 today or visit 211Texas.org.
  • Catholic Charities Fort Worth: Catholic Charities offers utility assistance and other support services. Community members can contact the Community Care Team at 817-534-0814 on Mondays between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. A team member will discuss your needs and provide recommendations on available services and resources.

  • City of Fort Worth Community Action Partners: This program provides a wide range of services to support low-income individuals and families, including utility bill assistance, weatherization services and programs to improve home energy efficiency. Click here to learn more. 

  • Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County: The organization provides air conditioning units to eligible residents while supplies last. Existing clients may be eligible to receive a fan. Call the Tarrant County Aging and Disability Resource Center at 855-937-2372 to get connected.

  • Reliant: Reliant is providing relief from the heat in North Texas through its Beat the Heat program. Community members can cool off and rest at local cooling centers and request a cooling device while supplies last. Reliant also provides financial assistance to qualifying customers to help pay their electricity bill. Click here to learn more.
