Event to feature discussion on leadership, resilience and reimagining success
FORT WORTH, Texas (May 1, 2025) — As part of our efforts to uplift women and girls, United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) will hold its 5th Annual Women United Investing in Impact luncheon on Thursday, May 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at River Ranch Stockyards, 500 NE 23rd Street, Fort Worth, TX 76164. Individual tickets, priced at $150, are available for purchase online through May 5.
This inspiring annual event empowers attendees to drive meaningful change in Tarrant County. During the luncheon, Women United will present $75,000 in grants to four organizations addressing critical needs such as emotional wellness, financial literacy, hygiene access and mental health care for women and girls. Since 2008, Women United has awarded more than $536,000 to local nonprofits.
The 2025 Impact Grant recipients are:
F.L.Y. Girlz Academy Inc. is rewriting the narrative for young girls by giving them the confidence, mentorship and emotional tools to succeed in school and in life. The organization plans to use this Impact Grant to strengthen internal operations through enhanced financial planning and strategic development.
IAmHER delivers age-appropriate financial education to middle school girls in often-overlooked communities. The grant will support refined program evaluation tools, improved financial oversight and targeted marketing to expand the organization’s reach.
Laundry Love Fort Worth provides free laundry services to women and families facing hygiene poverty. Receiving this grant will allow this nonprofit to fund critical technology upgrades to help the organization scale and meet growing demand.
Mental Health Connection, established in 1999 following the Wedgwood Baptist Church shooting, is a longtime advocate for mental health access. The grant will expand trauma-informed care by training nonprofit therapists in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), improving support for women and girls in need.
This year’s featured program, Reimagining the Rules, will focus on resilience, adaptability and leadership in business and nonprofit work. The conversation will be moderated by First Command Financial Services Chief Operating Officer Kellie Richter and will feature Tamiko Bailey, a disabled veteran and award-winning small business owner of Bailey’s Premier Services, and Adam D. Powell, UWTC’s president and CEO.
