Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program available at 14 locations in Tarrant County
FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 7, 2022) –United Way of Tarrant County’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program has begun FREE tax preparation services for individuals and families with a household income of $60,000 or less. VITA’s IRS-certified volunteers are trained to determine whether taxpayers qualify for either Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Child Tax Credit (CTC) to maximize their refund potential.
“The VITA program makes it possible for families to have this individualized care with their tax returns without paying an out-of-pocket fee,” said Dr. Faye Beaulieu, Senior Vice President of Community Investment for United Way of Tarrant County.
Since VITA was brought to Tarrant County 12 years ago, we’ve helped residents secure more than $138 million in total tax refunds, filed more than 75,624 tax returns and saved residents over $20 million in tax preparation fees. Our successful program has helped Tarrant County residents with financial stability and resiliency.
Tax center locations can be found at www.unitedwaytarrant.org/vita. Tax centers are open through April 29 this tax season.
