United Way of Tarrant County is happy to announce Riz Chand as the new Chairman of the Board. Chand’s term begins immediately and runs through June 30, the end of the organization’s fiscal year.
Chand, who is the Chief Human Resources Officer for BNSF Railway, joined the United Way of Tarrant County Board of Directors in 2016. He has served on several committees including the Compensation and Benefits Committee and the Executive Committee. Chand replaces Kevin Buehler, who stepped down for personal reasons. The board voted on Chand’s nomination Tuesday, Jan. 23, during a special board of directors meeting.
“I am pleased to be able to support the great work the United Way of Tarrant County does in serving this community,” Chand said. “The organization is an important provider of leadership and resources when it comes to solving many of Tarrant County’s toughest social issues.”
In his capacity as chair, Chand will work with the organization’s executive team to implement its strategic plan which includes conducting a Community Needs Assessment to determine the most pressing social issues for Tarrant County.
“We look at the resources available through public philanthropy as investments in our diverse communities, and we are excited about what this will produce with Riz at the helm.” said TD Smyers, President and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County. “I look forward to working with him closely to guide our work into a bold new future.”
