Leah M. King Honored with Legacy Award Among Great Women of Texas

FORT WORTH (May 2, 2022) – United Way of Tarrant County President and CEO Leah King was honored with the Legacy Award at the Great Women of Texas event hosted by the Fort Worth Business Press Thursday evening. This event recognizes the professional accomplishments and community service of Texas women.

“I am honored to be a recipient of the Legacy Award and join a list of strong, determined Texas women dedicated to creating positive change for our community,” said King. “I am inspired personally and professionally by these women to lead in a way that makes Tarrant County proud.”

Leah King was named president and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County in November 2019. King provides leadership, sets the strategic direction and ensures operational excellence in accordance with the values and mission of United Way of Tarrant County. Previously, she was executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“Leah is just committed to making the world a better place for all others.  We are lucky to have her at United Way and in our community,” said Melinda Johnston, United Way of Tarrant County Board Chair.

King also serves as a director on the boards of United Ways of Texas, Cook Children’s Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White All Saints, T3 (Tarrant To & Through), Fort Worth Club among others. In May of 2021, Leah was re-elected to her second term on the board of directors of the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) and is currently serving as board president.
