Shakita Johnson serves as Chief Aging Services Officer for United Way of Tarrant County, where she oversees all agency programs and initiatives that support older adults across the county. In this role, she operates the Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County (AAATC) and the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), while also actively engaging in state and federal policy advocacy on behalf of older adults and caregivers. She also ensures that resources are effectively allocated across both United Way’s direct services and its network of nonprofit partners serving older adults. 

Prior to joining United Way of Tarrant County, Shakita served as an Administrative Law Judge for the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH), presiding over highly complex appeal hearings involving enforcement actions taken by state agencies. Prior to joining SOAH, she served as a Guardianship attorney and Enforcement Attorney for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Her legal experience also includes private practice, including operating her own law firm.  Before beginning her legal career, Shakita spent a decade working in long‑term care as Director of Social Services in skilled nursing facilities throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth region and served as a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator.

Shakita earned her Juris Doctor from Texas A&M School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of North Texas. She is a licensed social worker, an attorney, a qualified mediator, and holds a certificate in elder mediation.
