Rolando Nieto and Kenya Mobley

While working full-time, Rolando Nieto was looking to increase his income and build a better future. He found the opportunity through Supporting Employment Efforts Now (SEEN), part of United Way of Tarrant County’s Workforce Development program.

Through SEEN and partner On Track Truck Driving School LLC, Rolando earned his commercial driver’s license. The program gave him the skills and confidence to pursue a more stable career—just in time, as he and his girlfriend had recently learned they were expecting their first child.

“I appreciate SEEN for the help and the opportunities for me and my family. I’m definitely going to take the initiative for this career path”, he said.

SEEN helps individuals who identify as ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) transition into high-wage, high-demand careers through specialized training and certification. Rolando’s story shows how the right support can do more than change one life—it can shape a brighter future for the next generation.

Through SEEN’s partnership with Community Learning Center, Inc., certifications in welding, logistics, HVAC maintenance tech, machining and aerospace training are also available. A financial literacy component is also embedded into the SEEN program thanks to partners like Truist and Frost Bank.

This program is just one way United Way of Tarrant County works to increase financial stability in our community.
