Veteran Aubrey McDade Jr. has overcome many challenges, but his most personal mission began when he became his mother’s full-time caregiver. The weight of that responsibility was overwhelming until United Way of Tarrant County’s Area Agency on Aging (AAATC) stepped in.

“As a caregiver to be solely responsible for somebody, who provides care for you?” asked Aubrey. “So now to have someone give me some care so I can [relax], thank you for that.” Whether providing answers, guidance or simply a voice of support, AAATC helped Aubrey navigate the complexities of caregiving.

AAATC, one of a network of 629 agencies, connects caregivers, people with disabilities and older adults to resources that improve their quality of life. As the only Area Agency on Aging in Texas that is part of a United Way, AAATC makes everyday life more manageable and meaningful for thousands of families in Tarrant County.
