A NEW CHAPTER FOR NONPROFITS IN TARRANT COUNTY

The United Way Institute officially opened its doors in April, marking the beginning of a new way forward for nonprofits across Tarrant County.

Dell Technologies' Nonprofit AI Day of Learning, the first event in the Institute, brought together nonprofit leaders, community partners and technology experts for a hands-on introduction to the opportunities this space offers.

LEARNING TOGETHER AND LEADING FORWARD

At AI Day, participants explored practical applications for using Artificial intelligence in their work thoughtfully and responsibly. Providing access to new technologies is just one focus of the United Way Institute, a space designed for innovation, collaboration and capacity building.

As part of the training, Dell Technologies demonstrated its virtual job interview simulator, an emerging technology developed as a tool to boost workforce development. Attendees could practice answering job interview questions being asked by an AI avatar that provided immediate feedback to better prepare job applicants for interviews, building confidence and readiness for real-world situations.

The United Way Institute will be the first in North Texas to have this tool available later this year.

BUILT FOR COLLABORATION

The Institute is powered by a strong network of partners. Dell Technologies and AT&T are strategic collaborators on the project. The Institute has additional support from GXA IT Consulting and the Sid Richardson Foundation.

Together, these partnerships make it possible to offer workshops, labs, cohort-based sessions and individualized technical assistance. Additionally, nonprofits will have access to shared data, emerging tools and expert guidance to better understand community needs and strengthen their programs.

“What I really loved about [the Institute] was that United Way is laying a foundation more towards their roots, where it's bringing the community together to collaborate and innovate in ways to better serve and support the community as a whole,” said Nicholas Logan, vice president of operations of the Community Enrichment Center

EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY FOR GOOD

For Dell Technologies, the partnership is about ensuring nonprofits are not left behind as technology continues to evolve.

“At Dell, we see the significant rate that technology is moving right now,” said Carly Tatum, senior director for giving and community impact. “So, for nonprofits, it's even more important. We don't want you guys to be left behind.”

The message was clear throughout AI Day: technology, when used responsibly, can unlock time, resources and new possibilities.

FUELING THE FUTURE OF OUR COMMUNITY

The United Way Institute is designed to do more than simply provide tools for the community; it is built to bring people together, strengthen organizations and create shared solutions that improve lives across Tarrant County.

“The United Way Institute matters because our nonprofit work is vital to the health of this community,” said Rose Bradshaw, president and CEO of the North Texas Community Foundation who participated in AI Day. “And United Way is going to be fueling them for the future.”

As nonprofits continue to navigate growing needs and limited resources, spaces like the Institute offer critical: momentum.
