Free Oct. 24 event will connect military-connected families with education, workforce and community resources as UWTC launches new assistance for Tarrant County veterans
FORT WORTH, Texas (October 13, 2026) – United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) in collaboration with Tarleton State University – Fort Worth, will host United in Service, a free resource event for veterans, active-duty military and their families, on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tarleton State-Fort Worth, 10850 Texan Rider Drive.
United in Service will bring together trusted community partners to provide military-connected families with education, workforce and community resources in one place. Attendees can come and go throughout the day and participate in breakout sessions, visit a resource fair, enjoy family-friendly activities and food, and receive free professional headshots.
“Veterans and military families have given so much in service to our country, and we want to make sure they know their community is here to support them,” said UWTC President and CEO Adam D. Powell. “United in Service brings resources together in one place, while this new funding allows us to extend that support into the home, helping veterans and their families remain safe, independent and connected to the resources they need.”
The event will also include a new resource available through UWTC’s Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County (AAA). Through a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance, AAA now provides qualifying Tarrant County veterans and eligible family members with in-home assistance and health and mobility equipment designed to help them remain safe and independent at home.
Available services may include light housekeeping, bathing assistance and dressing assistance, as well as equipment such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, shower chairs and blood pressure monitors. Services are based on eligibility, individual need and available funding. For a detailed list of eligibility requirements and to apply for services, please visit here.
The Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County team will be available at United in Service to answer questions about the program, discuss eligibility and help attendees access available resources.
