Dinner and Program Offer Exclusive Preview of Upcoming College Football Season and Help Raise Funds for a Better Tarrant County

FORT WORTH, Texas (JULY 12, 2023) — “Unplugged With Sonny Dykes and Randy Galloway,” presented by Frost Bank, an exclusive opportunity to hear from Texas Christian University’s head football coach, will be held the evening of Thursday, Aug. 17, at PalmWood Event & Conference in downtown Fort Worth. Proceeds from the program will benefit United Way of Tarrant County’s GET UNITED campaign.

United Way of Tarrant County is celebrating 100 years of service and impact in North Texas, and GET UNITED: The Second Century Campaign for Tarrant County represents the nonprofit’s most ambitious fundraising campaign in the organization’s history. The $100 million being raised through the GET UNITED campaign will be used to develop, fund, and fuel programs that will deliver healthier, safer, and more prosperous communities.

Sonny Dykes, TCU’s head football coach, and North Texas sports media legend Randy Galloway headline a program that will provide attendees an entertaining and “unplugged” conversation about the successful 2022-2023 TCU football season and a preview of what to expect this fall. Vocal supporters of UWTC’s mission, Dykes and Galloway, and additional honorary guests also will help raise awareness of the programs the organization operates and the need for long-term funding to expand support in areas of community health, community response, financial empowerment, and education and learning.

Frost Bank is the presenting sponsor of “Unplugged With Sonny Dykes and Randy Galloway,” and Fort Worth-owned and operated Anthracite Realty Partners is also a lead sponsor of the event.

“We are thrilled to partner with United Way of Tarrant County and support the continuous effort of serving the North Texas community for the next 100 years. The GET UNITED campaign allows for all individuals in the area to come together to make a meaningful difference just as Sonny Dykes and Randy Galloway have as valuable members of our community — both on and off the field,” said Hadley Woerner, Tarrant Region President for Frost Bank.

Sonny Dykes took the helm as TCU’s head football coach in late 2021 and led the Horned Frogs to a College Football Playoff National Championship appearance in his inaugural season with TCU. Dykes was honored with 10 Coach of the Year awards nationally. Randy Galloway is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and a longtime contributor to North Texas sports media, as both a columnist and broadcaster.

The event is hosted by United Way of Tarrant County Leaders United committee members Amber and Jamie Adams.

“Amber and I are honored to have Sonny and Randy join the United Way of Tarrant County team,” said event host Jamie Adams. “Together, we can make GET UNITED an invitation to community members, corporations, civic leaders, supporters, and more to join in making Tarrant County a more vibrant and thriving community.”

For 100 years, UWTC has served the needs of the people of North Texas. As the nonprofit leader begins its second century of service, its GET UNITED campaign is designed to convene leadership and the financial resources to address the most pressing challenges facing Tarrant County. GET UNITED is chaired by Karen and Jeff Williams, former mayor of the city of Arlington.

“We are committed to furthering the mission of serving the community and making real change in Tarrant County,” said Jeff Williams. “It is an honor to partner with Randy and coach Dykes in bringing together like-minded people who share a passion for raising up the voices of those in need of support.”

Event sponsorships, as well as a limited meet-and-greet experience, are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For information, visit unitedwaytarrant.org/unplugged.
