Every August, the Texas heat is hard to ignore, school supply lists come out, and shopping aisles fill with backpacks and supplies, and you know the first day is right around the corner. But for many families, this can create extra financial strain, as the rising costs of groceries, gas, and everyday items make school supplies one more burden on the household budget.
This is when we witness locals rise to the occasion, band together, and find creative and unique ways to meet the community's needs. Corporate partners enthusiastically host school supply drives, volunteers come together to pack the bags, and community partners step in to provide their specialties... food boxes, haircuts, children's books, and interactive activities.
This is one of my favorite times of the year because it shows what's possible when a community works together. Strong partnerships turn individual acts of kindness into collective impact, creating a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you to every partner and volunteer who continues to show up for our community.
