FORT WORTH, TX (May 16, 2022) – Women United announced The Women’s Center of Tarrant County as the recipient of the $40,000 Impact Grant at the Investing in Impact Luncheon on May 12. Each year, Women United allocates funds to organizations that support women and girls.

The Women’s Center helps men, women and children in our community face sexual abuse, violence, poverty and mental health issues. They offer rape crisis and victim services, violence prevention and education, employment solutions and general counseling.

“The Women’s Center is an outstanding organization working to improve people’s lives here in Tarrant County,” said United Way of Tarrant County President and CEO Leah King. “The support and care they provide to those in need is invaluable, and we are so pleased to present them with the Impact Grant.”

Rivertree Academy received $20,000 as a finalist for the Impact Grant. Rivertree Academy is an independent school located in the Lake Como neighborhood for under-resourced students. Rivertree works to break the cycle of poverty by educating students from Como to learn well, love well, work well, and lead well.

Since 2008, Women United has harnessed the power and dedication of women leaders to transform Tarrant County into a stronger community. By providing services and programs that garner a quality education, enhance job skills, or the opportunity to change their lives in other ways, Women United is tackling issues that affect women and girls in Tarrant County.
