UWTC’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program invites residents to check taxes off their to-do list at VITAthon, a free tax prep marathon and community resource fair.
Tax preparation services will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the last appointment beginning at 4 p.m. The community resource fair will run until 3 p.m., featuring local organizations supporting financial security and overall wellbeing.
UWTC’s goal is to complete 100 tax returns in a single day, helping families secure the refunds and credits they’ve earned—just in time for Spring Break.
VITA provides free, high-quality tax preparation for individuals and families with household incomes of $69,000 or less. IRS-certified VITA volunteers help ensure clients receive all eligible credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, which can significantly increase refunds.
The event is family-friendly and open to the public. Bilingual volunteers will be on-site to assist Spanish-speaking residents.
Appointments are encouraged and will take priority. Walk-ins are also welcome.
