What is the One Second Collaborative RFA decision-making process?

  • 100% volunteer driven
  • Staff conducts initial desk audit and facilitates Review Panel process
  • Review Panel scores proposals, meets for consensus and provides rank and recommendations
  • OSC Steering Committee reviews, discusses and approves funding recommendations

How many awards will be granted and what are the max/min amounts to be funded?

  • No set limit
  • Depends on quality of proposals and amount of funding requested
  • Based on available funding (*may be awarded in more than one RFP or RFA cycle)
    • Prevention – @ $500,000*
    • Intervention – @ $400,000*
    • Suppression – @ $450,000*
    • Reentry – @ $380,000*
    • Street Outreach – @$700,000*

How many years is the funding guaranteed?

  • Only one award for the grant term ending December 31, 2024
  • Funding is not guaranteed, but contingent on programmatic, reporting and financial compliance

How many proposals can be submitted per agency?

  • One proposal submission per agency
  • Programs can be multi-pronged to include more than one focus area

What additional terms will be part of the funded agreement?

  • Funded agencies will be required to participate in periodic meetings, public webinars to review/highlight data, discuss trends, as well as take part in evaluations.
  • Funded agencies may be called upon to take part in a multidisciplinary intervention team utilizing a cloud-based platform to coordinate a closed loop data management system
  • Funded agencies will be expected to adhere to promotion guidelines that include branding, sharing success stories, testimonials, etc.

If our organization receives Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) dollars, can those funds be considered part of the 20% match requirement?

What does collaboration look like?

Every organization should seek to define what collaboration looks like for them. Collaborating organizations should have conversations before they submit their grant proposals. Collaborators need to be sure that the lead agency and primary contact person for the proposal is clearly defined.

Collaborators need to be sure that:

  • A primary contact person for the proposal is defined
  • There is no funding redundancy (double-dipping or supplanting)
  • Their budget reveals specific allocations
  • Their application indicates who is being served by each collaborator

Which zip codes are the focus areas for the grant?

At this time, targeted zip codes include:  76010, 76011, 76036, 76104, 76106, 76105, 76112, 76116, 76119, 76133 and 76134. As this work continues, zip codes may be adjusted/expanded based on the data.

What age groups define youth and teens?

Individuals up to age 19 are considered youth and teens. Consideration will be offered to programs that include ages up to 25.

Is addressing police officer mental health as it relates to youth gun violence too far removed from the grant scope?

The review panel will review every submitted proposal. Every organization that submits a proposal will need to show how their program would specifically target reducing teen gun violence. Funding is targeted to prevention and evidence-based interventions.

Should we have a separate budget prepared if the minimum amount needed to run the program is awarded?

If the minimum amount (or any amount that is below the requested amount) is awarded, your organization can resubmit an adjusted budget and target numbers.
