United Way of Tarrant County is recruiting volunteer readers, tutors, mentors and graduation coaches to be part of its Learn Well education initiative now underway in the Arlington, Birdville and Fort Worth independent school districts. If you would like to learn how you can help children and youth succeed in school and life, then plan to attend a training session for prospective volunteers on September 14. The free training will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and repeated from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at United Way’s Fort Worth office, 1500 N. Main.
During the training you will learn about the programs that make up United Way’s Learn Well education initiative, which is committed to 1,508 more graduations from United Way-selected schools by 2020. You’ll also be able to decide if you are better suited to:

United Ways across the nation have pledged to recruit a million education volunteers over the next three years in partnership with other community organizations. Locally United Way has enlisted more than a dozen groups to assist in signing up 3,000 Tarrant County volunteers to serve as mentors, tutors and readers.
