An annual contribution to United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County helps to solve the community's most pressing problems. United Way also has established the United Way Legacy Fund as a component fund of the Community Foundation of North Texas. Bequests and other contributions to the Legacy Fund made by United Way donors make up the fund, which is administered by the Fort Worth-based Community Foundation of North Texas. Distributions from the Legacy Fund are used for the charitable purposes of United Way. The Community Foundation's Board of Directors is assisted in making distribution, investment and other decisions concerning the Legacy Fund by the United Way Legacy Board. Contact Benton Clark at 817-258-8010 for more information about making a contribution to United Way's Legacy Fund.

You may be interested to know that there are ways to make charitable gifts that benefit the donor as well as the community. If you are interested in furthering United Way's mission while reducing taxes and possibly increasing your income, you may wish to consider making a planned gift.

There are several ways for you to make contributions through a planned gift.

• Include the United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County in your will or trust.

• Contribute appreciated stock you have held for at least a year to fund a charitable gift
annuity or a charitable remainder trust, either of which will provide you an income for life.

• Contribute your personal residence and retain its use for life.

• Include the United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County as the beneficiary of a life insurance
  policy or your IRA plan.

Gifts such as these may reduce your current income tax or future estate taxes and allow you to make a lasting impact on our community.
