Major Gifts

 


Those who contribute major gifts to United Way, either through the Leadership Society or Tocqueville Society, are among the most committed philanthropists of our community. Their concern for others is evident in the generous way they affect the lives of many people they may never know.  

 

Leadership Society members are individuals or families who annually contribute $1,000 to $9,999. A contribution at one of the following levels demonstrates your leadership in making this a stronger, healthier community.

Named after the famous French historian and aristocrat Alexis de Tocqueville, the Tocqueville Society is a national organization of individuals who demonstrate exceptional generosity and leadership through philanthropy. The Tarrant County Alexis de Tocqueville Society consists of individuals, families and foundations giving $10,000 or more to address the needs in our community.

    Three-Step Program
   
A three-year commitment enables you to enjoy Tocqueville Society membership and its
    privileges for three years while starting at a reduced giving level.

    • First-year gift $5,000 - $7,499

    • Second-year gift $7,500 - $9,999

    • Third-year gift $10,000 or more

How Major Gifts Help

  • $1,000 provides an entire year of senior center activities for four older adults, including fitness and recreational activities, health assessments and legal and benefits counseling.
     

  • $1,000 provides 431 hours of homework assistance for low-income children to help them improve their grades.
     

  • $1,000 provides 256 visits or phone calls to older adults and people with mental illness to make sure they are not being abused or neglected in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
     

  • $1,000 provides 104 days of safe and nurturing after-school care for a low-income child. 
     

  • $1,000 provides 164 nutritious, hot lunches for older adults at senior centers.
     

  • $1,000 provides dental sealants for 89 low-income children to reduce the likelihood of painful tooth decay.
     

  • $1,000 provides 62 trips to medical and social service appointments for older adults and people with disabilities who need special transportation.
