9-1-1 became an easy way to reach emergency medical, police
and fire services, 2-1-1 has revolutionized the way Texans
access important non-emergency services.
When dialing
2-1-1, callers can talk to an information and referral
specialist who will assess their needs and refer them to
community services ranging from child care to
transportation.
The
2-1-1 information and referral service at
United Way is nationally accredited.
It
publishes the Blue Book, a directory of Tarrant County
health and human services, and administers an
online community resource database.
It
is one of 25 Area Information Centers that make up the
statewide
2-1-1 Texas
information and referral network.
