Issues commonly addressed include Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, Medicare supplemental policies, long term care insurance, QMB/SLMB, disputes over hospital bills, Food Stamps and other programs people want to access.

Benefits counselors now have the authority to assist with the

preparation of advanced directives, including:

   • Medical Power of Attorney

   • Directives to Physicians

   • Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) forms

   • Designation of Guardian Before Need Arises
