United Way’s Arlington office, Arlington Human Service
Planners, is leading a coalition to inform low-income
families that they are eligible for a fed eral earned
income tax credit and free tax preparation services.
Newspaper ads, flyers and other communication tools are
spreading the word. Other human service groups,
financial institutions and the City of Arlington are
also involved.
Some
people don’t realize they qualify for a tax credit or
that they can receive free help to apply for it. Married
couples with two or more children whose earned income
does not exceed $38,348 can qualify for a tax credit of
up to $4,536. Information about free tax preparation
services is available by dialing 2-1-1, United Way’s
information and referral service.
Arlington Human Service Planners is a partnership of
United Way and the City of Arlington. It provides
research and recommendations that assist in the
development of human services. |
