On Jan. 28 United Way of Tarrant County's Fort Worth office opened for business at its new
location in the Mercado Building, 1500 North Main, Suite 200.

All telephone and fax numbers remain the same, as do e-mail addresses. The new mailing address is P.O. Box 4448, Fort Worth, 76164-0448. United Way’s northeast and Arlington regional offices and 2-1-1 Texas information and referral service remain in their current Bedford and Arlington locations.

United Way signed a 10-year lease for the 22,000-square-foot second story of the Mercado. It sold its building at 210 E. Ninth in downtown Fort Worth to Charter Holdings after assessing the cost of upgrading the building to current standards. By renting instead of owning, United Way is able to stabilize its costs rather than dealing with unexpected repairs and replacements.
