On May 10, Tarrant County letter carriers will join their counterparts in communities across America to collect food during the National Association of Letter Carriers National Food Drive.

United Way is a partner in the annual event, which is billed as the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

You can participate by placing a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on May 10. The food will be taken to a postal station, sorted and delivered by union volunteers to Tarrant County food banks and pantries for families in need.

More than 300,000 pounds of food were collected in Tarrant County last year alone.
