To improve the community in the most effective way,
United Way periodically conducts local research to
identify community strengths and human service needs.
United Way staff and volunteers reviewed such research
in 2006 and chose early childhood learning and
development as one of United Way's main areas of
concern.
United Way has brought together a variety of individuals
and organizations to address early learning issues.
A lot has been accomplished,
but more remains to be done. To help guide its work,
United Way recently completed additional research. The
resulting 58-page update is a snapshot of the state of
early learning and development today.
