2-1-1 Texas Needs Volunteers During Disasters
2-1-1 Texas, United Way's information and referral service, has volunteer opportunities during times of disaster such as hurricanes, floods and tornados. During a disaster, 2-1-1 needs volunteers to work in four-hour shifts 24 hours a day. Volunteers work closely with dedicated 2-1-1 professionals to respond to callers seeking information about evacuation routes, transportation, shelters, food, water and more. Volunteers must complete a two-hour training that is scheduled periodically in Arlington and Fort Worth. To join the volunteer program, fill out and return an application form.
