Eight union members recently completed eight hours of Union Community Assistance Network (UCAN) training co-sponsored by United Way of Tarrant County and the Tarrant County Central Labor Council AFL-CIO.
Over four weeks, the UCAN graduates gained a better understanding of social and economic conditions that contribute to workers’ everyday stresses and learned how to help meet the needs of working families. By learning about the services of organizations such as Catholic Charities, the Community Learning Center, United Way and its Area Agency on Aging, they equipped themselves to assist others in finding help for their concerns.
AFL-CIO Community Services and United Way have joined forces to improve the lives of working families for 65 years. The Union Community Assistance Network expands labor’s presence in communities by increasing labor participation with local human service organizations.
